My family and I evacuated today at about 11:30 AM. Long lines at the airlines but the water taxis were moving people fairly fast. Boats were packed full. Water was a bit rougher than normal but not too bad. We are now in San Ignacio and life is normal here. There may be some flooding and rain but nobody getting too worried. Rivers are normal now. They say as it approaches, the rivers inland start to "boil" & churn. No sign of that yet. Alerts are continually being announced on the radio. Lots of people coming in this way from the cayes and coasts - most guests and some locals evacuated today. Current info looks like it is moving a bit North at this time. Tropic said they were moving all their planes to Flores about 5PM today but the radio just said there may be time to move more people off the island in the morning. Belize City showed signs of boarding up as well as SP. People with big boats (Winnie Estelle, etc) were already moving them South to Rio Dulce as of Thursday. People were alredy moving valuables and making plans to go to the sturdy hurricane approved places like Banana Beach, Royal Palm, etc. Here's hoping she blows North!!!!

Reef Radio just concluded an hour-long discussion with Jim Janmohammed
of NEMO, Manuel Heredia Area Rep., the mayor, and several others. Jim
says that the water taxis and planes moved 9000 people off the island
today. Many others went on other boats. There are police and armed BDF
patroling both here and north of the river on golf carts. They want
everyone to stay home and keep their kids home tonight so as to avoid
problems for the patrols. They expect rough seas on the front side
tomorrow AM.

I remember, with that coca cola can dancing on the golfcart dashboard. Few months after that, I recognized the lady speaking on the video, by her voice at Cannibals. They were with the new water system back then.

Take care of Stuart and Maya and Jen, Mr. Chris. Don't forget the turtle!

Thinking of the blue house and all my happiness there. Batten down the hatches and keep yourselves sane, if you can.

Thanks for the email update and thanks to the folks at Banana Beach for harboring the Eager family.

We're worried but that's my job. Much love and happy wishes from Jim and Pig and I.
