Hi all,

I'm planning on heading over to Tikal from AC and am debating between a day trip, or overnighting in Flores. Is there anything to do in Flores that would make it worth spending the night there?

Thanks!

Either stay in Tikal park for jungle and wildlife or on the island village of Flores to get a taste of Guatemala.

Both trips to Tikal I overnighted. Once in Flores and once at the northern end of the lake. Flores was interesting and nice. Streets like San Fransisco, up and down with many shops to look in. I wish I could remember the name of the Motel at the end of the lake because it was beautiful and clean, ?? Camino Real ??

I stayed at Camino Real a few years ago......isolated.....but beautiful with everything you need right there on the grounds.

It's defiantly worth doing an overnight trip. Hotels in Flores are pretty inexpensive, and it's such a cool town. When I stayed there a few years ago I had an OK hotel for around $10 usd a night with wifi and hot water. The lake is very cool, and you can take canoe rides around the island. There are some nice restaurants located on the lake with great views too.

Going to Tikal for the sunrise is pretty popular, so if you do an overnight and plan it correctly you can see Tikal at daybreak.

2 days at Tikal is a must!! Staying at one of the hotels within the park is well worth it. Sunrise from temple 4 can be spactacular.

From AC you have no choice but to overnight.
Even if you fly to new Cayo airport, you still need to get transpo to border, take bus or taxi from there.
PACZ tours in San Ignacio will pick you up in BZ city or Cayo, take you across border in a timely fashion.
