The Belize Zoo is having a telethon next Saturday. All proceeds will go towards feeding the animals that make the zoo the best little zoo in the world. The telethon is from 1 to 6pm.

"A huge paws up to ColorBlind Multimedia Productions for organizing a telethon fundraiser to help feed our beloved animals. The telethon will be aired live on ColorBlind's FB page, as well as ours, and 7 News Belize. Belize Zoo Raised Enough Funds

On Friday, we told you about the telethon that the Belize Zoo had planned as a fundraising event. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the trickle of visitor traffic, the Zoo is suffering from a financial crisis. The telethon was a sort of emergency measure to get funding to keep feeding the animals that call the zoo home.

The Zoo's administration was hoping to raise $25,000 from that telethon on Saturday afternoon, and they are reporting tonight that the generosity of Belizeans allowed them to exceed that target. They were able to raise $32,700 dollars, and these funds will go directly into the care, nutrition, and enriched quality of life for over 200 animals in the Zoo's care. Those 200 represent 45 native species of Belizean wildlife.

The Management and staff of the Belize Zoo and the Tropical Education Sanctuary are expressing gratitude to everyone who has donated to the cause.

The Belize Zoo's "Feed the Animals" Telethon hosted by @colorblindbz was an amazing and novel experience for us, and so successful thanks to our wonderful supporters.

There was a first class lineup of hosts and entertainers for 5 hours of programming with fantastic results. We are happy to announce that we exceeded our target of BZ$25,000 and were able to raise BZ$32,700!

These funds will go directly into the care, nutrition and enriched quality of life for over 200 animals in the Zoo's care, representing 45 native species of Belizean wildlife.
