Belize Zoo Raised Enough Funds On Friday, we told you about the telethon that the Belize Zoo had planned as a fundraising event. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the trickle of visitor traffic, the Zoo is suffering from a financial crisis. The telethon was a sort of emergency measure to get funding to keep feeding the animals that call the zoo home.
The Zoo's administration was hoping to raise $25,000 from that telethon on Saturday afternoon, and they are reporting tonight that the generosity of Belizeans allowed them to exceed that target. They were able to raise $32,700 dollars, and these funds will go directly into the care, nutrition, and enriched quality of life for over 200 animals in the Zoo's care. Those 200 represent 45 native species of Belizean wildlife.
The Management and staff of the Belize Zoo and the Tropical Education Sanctuary are expressing gratitude to everyone who has donated to the cause.
