It's the height of the hurricane season in this region, and Belize needs as much weather reconnaissance as it can get.
That's why it's welcome news that BEL and the Government of Belize handed over various weather station equipment to the National Meteorological Service. They were purchased using funds from the World Bank at a total value of 1.2 million dollars.
This equipment will enhance the National Met Service's ability and capacity to provide precise and reliable weather forecasts and to manage and analyze climate data across the country.
The weather station equipment was provided through funds from the Global Environment Facility via the World Bank for Belize's "Energy Resilience for Climate Adaptation Project".
Over the next two years, BEL will be the implementing partner for the project.
