The one challenge you will have regardless of where you stay is the fact that you are at sea level, and right next to the ocean on top of that. Lots of moisture in the air, which does cloud things up a bit. I took my 7x35 field glasses with me last month and the viewing was good, but not like a cold northern night with all the water frozen out of the air... Was kind of cool to see everything shifted 'north' - its weird to see Polaris so close to the northern horizon. Previous posts are right though, the further north you are the less sky glow.
