"Temptation Island" has phones ringing in Belize- (from CH5TV)
Tonight is episode number two of
Temptation Island, the U.S. TV
show whose dubious morality is
exceeded only by its advertising
value for Belize. In case you've
been asleep for the last several
weeks, the show places four
unmarried but committed couples
at luxurious Ambergris Caye resorts and then
separates them in the company of a dozen singles of
the opposite sex. The idea is to see if the couples
manage to stay together in the face of... temptation.
As stupid and immature as the concept sounds, the
show is a huge hit and the spin-off for Belize has been
unprecedented. Belize tourism offices in the States
report that the phones are ringing off hook as dozens
of U.S. media outlets, including People magazine, the
National Enquirer and Inside Edition, are falling all
over themselves to get the inside scoop on the
production's behind-the-scenes gossip. We don't know
what they found, but we can serve up some pretty hot
dish of our own. For one, although the couples were
not supposed to be married or have children, one of
the duos does in fact have a child. Which one?
Sources close to the producers say it's Ytossie and
Taheed. How the editors managed to get around that
problem will be interesting to watch. Perhaps even
more interesting is news that another couple may not
be a couple at all. These two, whose identity should
not be too hard to guess, not only don't live together,
but the young man is also reportedly gay. If the
rumour is true, it's doubtful that he'll be tempted by a
dozen beautiful women. And speaking of beautiful
women, it turns out that Belize is no stranger to at
least one female contestant. The dazzling Lola has
been to Belize at least once before as a model on a
photo shoot. Channel 5's production team worked on
that shoot for the E! Entertainment Network, and a
member of that crew, Chris Mangar, says that Lola will
indeed provide some heavy temptation.
Chris Mangar
"Well last year around August, I got the opportunity to
work with Lola for a couple of days and she's pretty,
she's energetic, she's very funny and she could
probably get freaky sometimes. But she's a very fun
person to be around. So far I think she's definitely one
of the best as far as I see and I'm sure the audience
who watches Temptation Island definitely agree with
me."
I think she will most definitely be successful. If not
tempting one, I think she might be tempting all four
guys, so they'll probably be a little war among the
guys for who will get her, but she will definitely tempt
one of the guys."
