I do the same thing. You have to go through a lot of posts and after a while you can spot a trend and also if somebody is trying to covertly affect the ratings.

I have stayed in resorts that were reported to be under construction after reading the posts that stated that the noise etc wasn't a problem - and you know what - it wasn't a problem and we got to stay in a $500 suite for $150 a night! Sweet.
