Frankly I find this thread vile. John McAfee doesn't drink, smoke, he doesn't do drugs and yet, still finds a way to live a full life in Belize whilst giving a lot to the community.

How many locals does he employ? Lots, even according to the snide articles posted here. He's very much a giver to Belize, not a taker.

As for the caption on the aerial photo saying that the lots his Ambergris Caye house sits on are worth 1.5million, plleeezzee...the correct value is about $650K.

The articles are written in such beautiful English...what a waste of a fine education on the author's part.

Finally, the idea that John McAfee is running away from responsibilities in the USA is ridiculous...he visits there regularly. He just needed/wanted something different.

I remember one story he told me when he first came here: He'd signed a contract to purchase some land on the Gulf of Mexico. He'd put down a 6 figure sum of money as a deposit. 1 week later he changed his mind, circumstances beyond his control, but told the sellers to please keep the deposit, he's sorry he has to back out. The sellers sued anyway for breach of contract and McAfee had to negotiate compensation over and above the amount deposited. In the meantime, less than 1 week after McAfee had defaulted the sellers sold the property for a greater sum than had been agreed with McAfee!

Who wouldn't run from crap like that?

Trust me on this one...the way things are going in the USA Mr. McAfee will be soon be seen as a pioneer, not a fugitive as these horrible articles imply.
