I'm fortunate that I retired from a medical facility that has an HMO for employees. They pay my Medicare deductible and the rest is free to me. I have total medical and dental coverage and full coverage on all prescriptions. I usually go back once a year to visit friends and family and take care of my routine medical - or scheduled surgery (knee - hip). Next will be cataracts

My wonderful doctor here on the island charges $30 BZ for an office visit and I always get to be seen the day I call. In the US the appointments were three months out. So far I've only had to be seen here twice in one year.

This year I had pneumonia and she treated me in her office and including take home drugs it was less than $200 US. This is so reasonable that I don't bother sending a claim to the HMO.
