An international Airport on the Island would draw additional tourists, as many charter airlines / touroperators like TUI don't allow air or boat connections from the airport where they land to the hotel and now simply don't come to Belize. I don't think it would hurt PGIA or the local airlines at all. Contrary, I think it will create a suction effect on tourism to Belize.

Financially and logistically I agree with cracked up. On the other hand, there was talk about the bridge for decades before it was actually built, as the road north, many (including myself) never thought it would happen and now, here it is.

Time will tell.
