ELLY
My maternal side just kicked in. Traveling on your own has a lot of plusses. But there are a few precautions you should take.
Don't tell strange men where you are staying. Even if they just casually slip the question into a conversation. Be evasive or lie. Unless you want them banging on your door at 2 O'clock in the morning professing their undying love for you.(I learned this one the hard way)I haven't been to Belize yet, but there are parts of the world where men have this down to a fine art.
Keep walking around at night on your own down to a minimum. Take a taxi.
Not sure about Belize, but in some Central American countries. Instead of wolf whistles the men will hiss as you walk by. Just ignor them. I don't think you'll run into this on the Cayes, but you might on the mainland.
OK, that's it for my maternal side. Go and have a good time. Eat lots of good food.Make lots of new friends. Definatly Dive and snorkel as much as you can.

SEASHELL
That is a coincidence. I can see how my asking if you went to school in Canada, would be a bit of a start.
From what I've been told Seashell is Dutch and when she came over to this part of the world she Americanized her name.
