What You Need for Fly Fishing in Belize
If you've heard much about destination saltwater fly fishing, there's no doubt you've heard of Turneffe Flats. Located 30 miles off the coast of Belize, the legendary location is located on the Turneffe Atoll - the largest of only four coral reefs situated in the western hemisphere. Here, anglers can find a sprawling saltwater playground and a tropical vacation experience unlike anywhere else in the world.

One of the best things about a saltwater fly fishing trip to Turneffe Flats is the wide variety of species in the area. Turneffe is one of those rare places in the world where anglers can go after a "Grand Slam", which means catching a bonefish, permit, AND a tarpon on the same trip. Additionally, anglers might stumble into triggerfish, snapper, sharks, and more. When your line goes tight in a saltwater destination like this, there's no telling exactly what is on the other end.

In this video, Anglers All's GM Jimmy Juliana takes us through his gear list and considerations when planning a destination fly fishing trip to Turneffe Flats, plus what you can expect on your Belizean adventure.
