As far as financing goes, you'll probably want to do that back home at your own bank. Problem is that US banks usually won't except the property in Belize as collateral. You will need to have other assets to back up the loan and then you can do it where you normally bank. Interest rates in Belize are usually extremely high.
As far as owning a condo, choose wisely and it's great. Choose poorly and it can become a major headache in your life. Take your time and check out the property thoroughly. Make sure you know the island and how things work there (or don't work). I'm happy to say that I chose wisely and have enjoyed every minute of my purchase. Others have lost everything. But that can occur anywhere.
