Doggums,

Given the current situation it would suprise me also if Coral Bay did not cash travelers checks for their guests. Check with Rafael at their e-mail to be sure. They should be very helpful.

The Xanadu didn't have a problem cashing my travelers checks, but like WDFB I prefer enough cash to get me by and use Travelers Checks for when I'm running short. No need to convert USD to BZDs, everyone is happy to take USDs. They will make change with BZDs.

CODFATHER-Please tell me, send me an email (if you click on my profile you can email me directly) and let me know if you had some bad experience with Belizeans. Do you enjoy Belize and are you ever going back? I haven't read any of your other posts so fill me in. I am confused as to my statement being BS. Everyone there has done a lot more for me than almost any American has. You mentioned my comment was BS but seems I get screwed by Americans quite often and many priorities here are MONEY MONEY, AND MONEY...not family nor other important things. (not saying I dislike americans, I am one!) There have been times Belizeans won't except my money, as they are just doing a favor that someone here where I live would never think of doing. I have endless stories of things people have done for me there that always shock me in the best way! I remember one day at the park I only had a $50 bill, the lady had no change and I told her I'd go get smaller bills in my room. This Belizean man said NO-I will pay her for you-and he did. He did not flirt with me or want anything. I said I'd be right back as my hotel was close and I wanted to pay him back. I returned in less than 10 minutes and he was gone. The lady said he left as he didn't want me to pay him back. These small things happen all the time, and the big things they've done for me would take up this whole page. Interested in hearing what happened to you.

depending on how you classify incidentals,$100 per day is about right if you do any kind of moderate to seious drinking and snacking. some days more, some days less,IMO it is usually better to have more than you need than not enough. i always take about $100 in fives and ones and the rest in US100's. never ever been turned down by anybody when trying to cash large bills!

sad to see such bitter and unhappy people!
I guess this just makes the happy ones realize that much more how fortunate they are for living life to the fullest.
