Just spent 5 hours boarding up Oscar's Gym, hope it was all in vain. Best wishes to all of the rest who are staying to ride it out.

I and others will be constantly monitoring the weather sites, and posting the information.

but my motherlode of links is here:
//AmbergrisCaye.com/hurricane/links.html

developed from many years of doing this, with great help from Jesse and Peter Singfield. And of course, the late great well remembered and (tear) sorely missed, JOHN LANKFORD.

LOVE THAT MAN. May he rest in peace. God i miss him.

ok, it 3:15 here, it's a beautiful sunny day, hot, nice breeze. The water is that aqua that makes yer heart go ahhhhhhhhhh. And it's like a ghost town, no chairs out, VERY few places left open (BC's and Coconet are!). Few taxis, few golfcarts, and fewer people. Still lots of people with their kids and suitcases on the water taxi docks waiting to leave. Still can hear electric saws and lots of hammering going on although most everything on the beach and alot on front street is boarded up. Still hoping we all go 'well we got all prepared for nothing'!

Milo just reported on Reef Radio that as of about 3PM Maya Island had evacuated 724 people, Tropic had hauled about 750 pax, and the Caye Caulker Water Taxis had transported 3,900. The 2 airlines will fly until about 6PM and are keeping up with demand. The water taxis have about 100 people in line and will run until 4PM with 4-5 boats yet to arrive.

I asked a friend what he went thru to board up, just for folks to read who don't know what its like....
=======================
Well, let's see. Plywood was delivered by hardware store at 8:15am sharp
this am. My assistant did not make it to work until around 9:15am since he
had his stuff to pack up too. Had to send pickup some cement nails at the
hardware store. Searched for an assistant for my assistant! Had to wait 2
hours for the scaffolding guys to show up. So it is 4pm now & all the
plywood is in place & only the main entrance to my office is left which I
will take care when I leave. So looks like a total of 8 hours to get 30
full sheets of plywood to cover a 3 storey building, I guess that is not
too bad provided everyone is running around with their heads half screwed
on :?)

My daughter and son in law are boarding up and going to Xanadu. I always feel safe when they are there. 300 mph wind-proof domes. Keep the prayer lines open. They were moving down there during Iris and every summer I remember the devastation I saw from Keith. God bless all of you and keep you safe on AC.

O.K. guys we certainly hope that the storm continues on its west northwest track. A friend of mine told me that Jim Mohamed from Nemo will be on Reef Radio at 6:00 p.m. today to give the latest. The Government of Belize at 12:00 noon declared phase two of its hurricane preparedness plan. Tune to 92.3 f.m. or on channel 7 (local tv).
