i dont think he going to post back any time soon, but its good to hear experiences like these. As for the drugs on AC, this island is in the middle of the major route between Colombia and Mexico, they have to press hard on those trades before AC will see any shortage of supply of illegal drugs. (and it looks like they are with all of the big drug bust going on).

For those who live in SP = Any suggestion on reporting and to who, if we are offered drugs.

Well this was an interesting topic. hahaha
Just like anywhere, you dont buy anything from people you don't know. PERIOD. It's just stupid. If you can't find someone you know, then just go without. Buying drugs or anything questionable off a stranger is just plain STUPID, and that goes for whether you're in America, Belize, or the antartic.

It's disgusting that we even have drug dealers here, big and small, and that they occur in such large numbers and it's disgusting that there is clearly much demand here for their "services."
I'm sad that the only person really directly criticising the drug dealers here (prior to this post) is the person who started the thread!
I think 8300 and family deserves a lot of the flak they're getting but I'd feel better if I saw evidence that people on this board were keen to see the back of drugs and drug dealers on the island.
I can't be polite to drug dealers...I was offered drugs outside Marina's store a few weeks ago by a group of fellows I'd never seen before and told them to "f--k off"...then I called the police on them because one of them threateningly demanded to know what my problem was. Just because a drug dealer is initially polite to me doesn't for one second take the sting out of the vicious substances they offer. I've seen too many good Belizeans lose their self respect and families because they gave in to this garbage.
And, before any weed heads get started on the "pot is OK" debate, every pot dealer here has crack for sale as well. In my book that makes every drug dealer on this island an evil person. Until pot is legalized and controlled and taxed it's still the condiut to much more dangerious stuff.
Do we really have to accept that drug dealers are a part of life here on Ambergris Caye? Why be nice to nasty people?

I'm in no way condoning dealing drugs...Selling crack & cocaine & the other bad drugs is just not okay, no matter where you are. BUT, you say "do we really have to accept that drug dealers are a part of life here"...what else do you suggest? Drugs are everywhere. Absolutly EVERYWHERE.
Being nice or being mean to drug dealers certainly isn't going to make them stop. Calling the cops, well that will stop them temporarily, but they'll be right back to doing what they were doing as soon as they're let out.
Maybe you don't "have" to accept it, but I guess my question is what is your alternative?

Chris,
You are NOT the only one who feels that drug dealers are the scum of the earth. As a mother of a young child it bothers me greatly. The problem is though as long as there are those who think a "nice joint on the beach" is appealing they, the dealers shall remain. I don't live on the island though and am only a visitor. Hopefully the residents of your lovely island can address this before it continues to get out of hand. Incidently on one of prior trips, I believe it was February 2004 there were a group of divers staying at one of the hotels in town and a few of them were busted buying drugs.I know this happened because the Mgr. of the hotel told me about it. I think a few of them earned a nice boat ride to a holding cell that night on the mainland if I heard the details right. Rhonda

Unfortunatly, there will always be people who think a "nice joint on the beach" is appealing. The moral of the story is DONT BUY DRUGS. simple.

Chris you are not alone in your thoughts. I agree with your legalization theory.....if it doesn't hurt anybody but yourself, get rid of the law. Chase the punish the "real criminals" who are actually harming people.
