Thank you DBDoberman, Central FL Girl and the others that are familar with BBH. I appreciate your comments. #8300 You said that no where in your first post are you blaming us yet you said "Do not stay at Brianna's Beach House". Yes I was sorry about what happened...let's face it..no jail is nice but that does not mean that it was because of where you were staying is the reason all of you were arrested (not just poor old Dad) Isn't it true that you had several people over to the house from the first night and that you were smoking right on the verandah. As for the guestbook...If the only way I knew how to run a guest house was to tear out pages from the book because I was trying to hide all the complaints as you feel...I would be waisting my time. I wasn't aware about the book as I deal with my guests direct...I make sure everything is alright. Don't you think that some pages were torn out because the guests needed paper? This is the comment that I cannot understand. As for the neighbours they have been great with my guests and they do not have a problem with "white" people or "tourists" You have really offended me and my family and I truly feel embarrased for you. I think DBDoberman is right..you do owe Willie and I an appology.

Not only an apology, a retraction. Many prospective tourists glean all their information about AC from this board, and comments like those can be devastating. Retraction......
One more thing...I have sent several guests on the cave tubing trip and not once were they promised "sitting on an innertube and watching the sites go by"...PLEASE.......What kind of Adventure would that be anyway? Maybe on your vacation next year you can sit at your father in law's house and watch his pot grow..........now there's your kind of adventure.......

Six visits, one solicitation; a simple "No" sufficed quite well. As a visitor, I chose not to create a confrontation and simply went on to enjoy my trip.

The problem does seem to be increasing, from what I read. Again, my one exposure to it was once, three years ago...not a cause for alarm in my book, particularly in the Caribbean/CA...but maybe, in SP, it appears to be on the upswing.

As tourists, many of us are reluctant to go to the local "authorities" (quotes intended) with such concerns as we're never sure of the outcome of such input. I (probably we) understand the frustrations of the locals but, once again, we can't be sure as to the response to our complaints. Someone may be related or, at the least, connected...if you catch my drift.

All in all, SP still seems to be relatively safe to me...although I'll admit it's not quite so peaceful as it was when we first visited. The past two years have exhibited a marked change in atmosphere, IMO.

Just say no, continue to say no, and remember those who treat you well. And never travel with your father-in-law, if he's a habitual user of illegal drugs. Seems simple, no? wink

For my two cents worth, It would seem to me that the incredible amount of money involved with drugs has to make it almost impossible to enforce laws in third world countries. A $40 Bz reward is peanuts compared to the amount of money we are talking about. I'm not saying that the police are on the take, but I would be amazed if some are not given some $s to look the other way. I have been told that you can haul $16 million worth of cocaine on one of those boats that are found abandoned floating near the north end of the island.
The drug problem has increased and whatever the answer is, it won't be easy. I would like to add, I am a large man in pretty good shape and I wouldn't confront a drug dealer on the street here at home and I sure as hell wouldn't confront one in a foreign country.

Chloe: I like your paintball idea : )

Anyone: I'm just wondering if the police can make an arrest simply on a complaint of a dealer's "offer". Doesn't a transaction have to actually occur?

Mallibu.....that's a start in the cleaning up of corruption.
The children will thank you one day if indy's idea is working. They will lead better lives.

The Police be working too and the drug hopping tourists will not be comming to AC to foul up the island with their trash since the access to the drugs will be more difficult.

A lot can be said for $40BZ. Snitches will talk and on and on.... smile

Chloe...splat gun ....white, pink, blue red, green. There is a supply/game arena right near me smile

In the original post, I said "Do not stay at BBH IF YOU WANT A STRESS-FREE, QUIET TIME." My opinion, please do not misquote me. There were two people "over to the house" invited by dad...is that "several?" Sure, why not. Dad is also a cigarette smoker, so yes, he was smoking on the verandah. Guestbook? I don't know what to say about that...we were curious. As for everything else stated in the post, there have been many good things said, and I stand by what I have personally posted. No apology, no retraction. I think it is quite valuable for travellers to see what COULD happen if you put yourself in questionable situations, in which responsibility has already been taken. I have already stated twice that I am not blaming the house or the owners. It just so happens that 7 cops came to Brianna's Beach House, where we were staying. Again, it is not the FAULT of Sandy, Willie, or SEArious. I have never said that. I have stated that we did not feel safe there, due to the incident and the beachfront and beach road location. Yes, illegal activity was engaged. Yes, we got caught. Yes, others will find themselves in similar situations. This post is telling what heppened to me and my family when illegal activities were pursued, and what can happen to anybody else that does the same. As with your own hometown, or travelling abroad, if you are going to smoke pot, please be careful. Let's be realistic here, many people like to smoke, illegal or not, and many people will look to buy when they are on vacation. Here is a great opportunity to learn something, as I have. I could have come home, forgot about it, and not put myself out there. Instead, I have been willing to tell my side, knowing full well that I would be lambasted. That's fine, as it is all for the cause of discussion and learning, so that this may not happen to somebody else. Much love to all! This will probably be my last post on this topic, as I have already stated the important points a few times. Thanks.

Dude your lying here! Not like we can't see it duh!

The OP was "DON'T STAY AT BRIANNA'S BEACH HOUSE (BOLD TEXT) if you want.... (small text). And yes you did blame Sandy, and plainly stated it was a set-up, the neighbors were rude and prejudice, beggars came to your gate, you bribed the cops, you were not allowed civil rights, etc... (suprised no warrant has been issued for ya').

So be a man and apologize instead of trying to make yourself look noble.

Just like NBC, "it's one to grow on."
