Once you go to Central America, there is no turning back. Try Panama sometime: half as cheap as Belize and just as beautiful!

Is half as cheap the same as twice as expensive?
Been there, done that, the washing machine ate the T-shirt

Si, My heart has been in Belize since my first visit several years ago and I have been back many times because of that and will continue to go back. But, finding another great place - it is what it is. Go and check it out if you are so inclined. My comment is only meant to share a very good find. But, don't tell too many people!
Bobber: Half as cheap means just that. Lobster dinner: $10.00. Local beers and cocktails: $1.00 and Happy hour is $.75. Giant red snapper fillet dinner for $9.00. Boat rides between islands for $1.00. Hour boat ride from mainland to Bocas was $5.00 on ferry. Hotel rooms right on Caribbean beach for $65.00 per night, double occupancy, including full breakfast of your choice.
As you were!

Laurie, Totally agree. I am actually going to Panama and has been on my list for a year now. I understood your comment and am glad you liked it since I am visiting. I was just commenting on my feelings for ac...that's all.

Klc: my point, exactly. This is not just about costs, but about another wonderful place to go in this big world that I think some of us Belize freaks can appreciate. A pleasant surprise. Also, it means I can probably afford an extra vacation next year and that is a very good thing. If a traveler can bring $1k for 10 days in Costa Rica and Panama, eat and drink to your heart's content, see everything you can possibly do, buy a bunch of cool gifts and still come home with $200 duckets in your pocket, how can you not be happy?
Tours (snorkeling, outer islands, etc.) are half the cost too. Six pack of excellent Panama beer: $3.00 in local grocery store. Internet $1.00 for an hour use. Reliable boatmen - if you make plans three days in advance, they are there on the dot. No problemo.
Back to Kristy: I bet she won't go back to Mexico!

Ke: enjoy and if you have any questions, please feel free to PM me.
Now, my problem is figuring out how to get my yearly Belize fix in, along with another jaunt to Bocas. Decisions to be made and I haven't been back for a week!
