Some of us are looking forward to exploring Panama/Venesuala in the New Year!!We had a great trip to Costa Rica last year, But San Pedro this year was a great trip as well and the value was great as it was really cheap compared to Mexico, Europe or Hawaii in the last several trips that we did last year!! I have to say that San Pedro, Belize has been a great vacation, at whatever cost! There is no comparison to the people here!!Can you suggest any place in Panama that might be like a San pedro town or experience for us?

Boca De Torres is what they wrote in one of their threads. It's on my list of places to go, supposed to be wonderful.

From all my travels in central america each town is quite different, unique, and wonderful. It doesn; sound like the town is like SP which is not a bad thing though.

Bocas del Toro Islands just off the Costa Rica/Panama border in the Caribbean. We also went to the Caribe side of Costa Rica for a few days. We stayed in Bocas town on the main island of Isla Colon and then on a tiny island called Isla Careneros. Isla Bastimentos is where the good beaches are. Bocas is an archipelalo made up of many islands - a lot uninhabitable.

It is a completely different type of town - all buildings are built over the water. If you are looking for great beaches, this is not the place, but it has much more than that to offer. Lots of surfers, lush jungle (bugs!). We really liked Panama beer!

A must to know how to speak some Spanish.

Did y'all see Hospedaje Heide, by any chance, on Bocas del Toro?

It's owned and run by a former boarder, Susan GG. She's apparently hopping and popping there, after having sold her AC condos and doing lodging accommodations in Panama and living fulltime there.

Her establishment is on Isla Cristobal and we saw it by boat only. It looked beautiful and we met a couple who stayed here who said it is very nice. Apparently, she is quite a presence down in Bocas and lots of folks know her.

Back home...battling that "depression" you all talk about.

Dreamt of San Pedro all night last night, woke u and realized I was home. Quite a sad relization.

Planning a trip for the last week of March into early April. Its the only thing that gave me justice to having to leave SP...it was the idea of being able to come back in just a couple months.

you're gonna end up here more and more, with visits closer and closer together.

Got your PM, I too used to dream about San Pedro and was sad being back. I felt the same after my first visit. In fact second and third too...you just can't do everything you want to in a week or two visit.

Glad you're coming back.

Ah, OK then I didn't realize she named her place. We did see pass by it as Laurie states and met many people who know her very well on the Islands including our Hotel Owner who met her at her house for a party on the Democratic Convention evening.
