last time in SP I dove with Amigos Del Mar and had a great experience..... I'm interested in taking my rescue diver class and also would like to do the blue hole.. from what I've read, it sounds like amigos is still top notch. Is Changa still on board there?

ps.. divemasters are among the lowest paid workers in the industry. I have several friends I've met over the years and they all seem to migrate to "better" jobs and such.. but it usually just means they're restless and want a change of scenery. That being said, jumping ship the week after you paid them xmas bonuses is sort of shitty, but keep in mind.. you gave them the bonus for their past performance, not for the future ( although it's usually a good retention tool as well )

sorry for being a windbag but I'm feeling "typey" today

These guys were instructors, and earned a lot more than DMs.

It pains me to say it (!) but Amigos (still under Changa) is without question a very good dive center, and you won't go wrong with anything you do there.

what's that? HOTTIES at amigos?

hmmm... this reminds of the story a former poster (Her name edited by poster ) told me about a threesome with her and two people who worked one of the dive shops... I won't post which shop... but last time I was in AC there weren't many hotties... does this mean that times are a changing and I can expect wall to wall hotties?

Back in the old days, when I was a divemaster, we were very well paid. On top of our pay we were also allowed to earn tips. We also got to go to tons of fun dinners and dances with our happy divers at the end of the day.

There is a big turn-over because you get burned out. 5 dives a day is exhausting work and a change of scenery can become a necessity after a while so you can just catch up and rest!

I certainly wouldn't want to have to dive for a living when its cold or during pica pica season ever again!! :p

Phillytodd, I am assuming you are a male, correct? You might not find them to be hotties at Amigos if you like women considering all divemasters are men there but one! (though the woman there is hot.)

Regarding your "but last time I was in AC there weren't many hotties... does this mean that times are a changing and I can expect wall to wall hotties?" Few places anywhere have wall to wall hotties, though some do feel this way. I personally do find people are attractive in BZ and again...HOTTIES at Amigos. This is all a matter of opinion. Depends on what is "hot" to you and what nationality you may prefer intimately.

On my trips back to the states, I find less American men attractive(physically and personality) than I used to. Gee, I wanna go back to Belize, I am missing...things and important people. It is COLD here and I need to be hugged.
