Back in the old days, when I was a divemaster, we were very well paid. On top of our pay we were also allowed to earn tips. We also got to go to tons of fun dinners and dances with our happy divers at the end of the day.
There is a big turn-over because you get burned out. 5 dives a day is exhausting work and a change of scenery can become a necessity after a while so you can just catch up and rest!
I certainly wouldn't want to have to dive for a living when its cold or during pica pica season ever again!! :p
