No, seriously. I am truly trying to figure out your suggestion. I have learned alot from others experiences. I just do not understand how once a person makes a reservation and has a confirmed flight for the return trip home, what checking the weather before departing Belize has anything to do with it. The decision has already been made as to what flight was booked.

OK, thanks for the example. I understood the question to be whether to book a return flight with a 1:30 or a 3:20 hour lay over in Houston. I guess we were talking about something different.

I agree with ByWarrewn on the longer layover on the return leg of the trip. You cannot be sure your return flight will leave Belize on time, you cannont know the length of immigration lines, nor predict whether you will be the lucky person who gets randomly picked for a full-body scan at security.
About immigration - the US Citizen lines are usually more efficient than non-citizen ones. Canadians are in that other line ........ the last time I flew into Houston I was with friends from Belize one of whom was relegated to the "other" line (as will the canadian asking about this transit) - he was in immigration lines for a full hour and a half.
Homeland Security frowns on passenger meltdown even when you are about to miss a flight.

"Homeland Security" - now there's an oxymoron for ya. I've been on six flights in the past three weeks. Before proceeding through security, I pass the sign that warns: "Lighters are strictly prohibited." The lighter in my purse has gone through the x-ray each of the six times. Apparently butane on a flight is not a problem; however those security people get really freaked out about my hair clip and even more upset when I refust to take it out. Go figure!

It is called profiling. You are a lawyer aren't you.

I saw a display case in Minneapolis full of restricted items (like aerosols). But I really had to chuckle when I saw a chainsaw. Just in case this isn't obvious: don't bring a chainsaw on the flight with you. Evidently, there are some security/safety concerns.
okay. a bit off topic. But, if DO bring a chainsaw, and get it past security, you may want to count on a longer layover

actually saw a guy with a chainsaw at the TACA line in houston last fall... he was promptly taken aside and the chainsaw was confiscated. i think the biggest issue was the gas and oil it contained. my wife got pinched for her cig lighters three straight trips(she always seems to leave one in her purse)twice in Belize and once in the states. sorry, off original topic.

It is off topic - and TIMO, I thought that's the way it was supposed to work, but after they didn't take it the first time, I just stopped taking it out of my purse - my point is that the security measures aren't to secure.
By - why would they want to profile attorneys? :p

I didn't use the term attorney. I said lawyer. Now granted, most people consider those terms to be synonymous, but technically there is a difference in definition. Just as there is a difference in English law between a barrister and a solicitor. Now for those inquisitive minds, I will let them figure out how that difference answers your question. For all others, just relax and let your mind ponder the other important issues on the board.

Gee By - you are technically correct, there is a difference and it's all about relationship. Buy you missed the boat (again) check my profile - I'm listed as an attorney, not a lawyer. :p
