We have taken chainsaws to Belize via our checked baggage.

You can take anything of this nature, chainsaws, weedeaters, leaf blowers as long as you remove the fuel and oil from the piece of equipment.

Most unusual item I have ever seen was a man trying to get a winshield of a car onto the plane.
(This had to have been before 9-11.)

I was sent back once for having some Sears hand tools. Appeared that I looked quite capable of bashing my fellow passengers in the head. Was able to go back to the airline counter and have them put in a box and sent on the plane.
Naturally I was okayed out of Belize but not for further travel in the US with these items.

My husband took a chain saw to Belize last summer. Not a problem when taken apart and fuel removed/cleaned & checked in luggage.
