Anyone.....What happens to Cubans who come to Belize illegally on boats or rafts. In the US we have the WetFoot/DryFoot policy which I'm sure is all ours. If they come to Belize on rafts and you send them back to Cuba then why do we get all the grief when we do the same if they are WetFoot. At least we let them in on DryFoot.

Government of Belize doesn't have to cater to the Miami Mafia

On the contrary, we cater to Castro, whose govt gives us university scholarships and medical treatment in Cuba and sends lots of docs and nurses to work in our clinics and hospitals in Belize. Foreign aid.

but thats not contrary. The Miami Mafia is rabidly anti-Castro and dictates US policy.

Nice….So you take aid from a monster who along with Che Guevara murdered 80% of all captured anti-Communist rebels who dared revolt against a repressive totalitarian regime. I wish Castro a swift death and a long burn.

TB - do you have hopes that his younger brother will be any better? I don't. As for judgment, it's not mine to make, though I can understand your anguish.

spots,
Only the people can rise up to demand choice. And as long as there is ANY Castro in power I think the people have too much fear to try it.

I am disgusted by the leftist in Hollywood and politics in this country. They deify Castro and Che. Both men were/are monsters who have murdered thousands in firing lines.

We much appreciate the wonderful medical people who come from Cuba to administer to us here. And the fine education offered to our medical students who attend university in Cuba.

And your opinion on Castro murdering thousands of his own people is what? It makes it all better because they offer up a second rate medical education? Sorry if I am being a little confontational, but Castro needs to be shot where he lays and thrown to the vultures.

Back to the original question: when Cuban refugees are caught by immigration or the police they are returned to Cuba. Unfortunately, there is virtually no political exile in Belize for Cubans.
How can I even explain how it is living outside of the U.S.? When you step outside the borders, the rest of the world sees Cuba in a different light, a light that is not constrained by U.S. political tunnel vision manipulation. The U.S. is virtually the only country in the world with a hard-on for Cuba. How is it that your neighbors to the north are great friends with Cuba? What about the English and French and Dutch and German allies in Europe? Love them! My husband would have to argue about TannedBanana's claim of second rate medical education. He went to Cuba twice for laser eye surgery last year and received the most professional (and free) medical care in his life. 7 minutes of laser surgery, a week's stay with all expenses paid, airfare, food, nice hotel. Without it he would not be able to drive at night. Belize and the whole Caribbean basin is blessed to receive so much humanitarian aid from Cuba. Belize would not want to alienate Cuban and risk losing aid. Castro wont let the U.S. dictate to and annex Cuba and that pisses the current president off.
