Well, there's no mention of three dozen or so other hotels on the Placencia, either. Blue Crab is fine; in my book it's just not one of my top picks in value or atmosphere.

When is the "offseason" for hotels?

Offseason varies from hotel to hotel but generally is after Easter to just before (US) Thanksgiving. May 1 to December 1 is another common definition.

If you can swing it, stay at Turtle Inn. The beach front cabanas are insanely beautiful and luxurious. The food at the resort is very good but you need to go into town and eat at Wendy's (no, not THAT Wendy's). It is very good.
