Well obviously the people here have an irrisitable affection towards Belize/SP/AC, but I'm wondering where else you've been and how you liked it? Where have your other favorite destination spots been? [outside Belize of course].

I'm looking to find more places to research & travel to, prefarably a little more off the beaten path [not so into tourist spots -cancun, hawaii, etc]

Just wanted to see where your feet have traveled laugh

are you just looking for the tropics? Grenada & Guadelupe. highly recommend: Venice/Rome, ANYWHERE in Germany (I am screaming), was in Paris for the millenium - good time, but too many people. Every place I've been, I would return, excluding Aruba. Yes, due to that whole fiasco I will boycot, wasn't such a good time the first time, anyway.

West coast of Scotland, the Lac des Illes/Ste. Agathe area north of Montreal, cottage country north of Toronto and Maui have been my favourites next to Belize.

I want to get married in Scotland [assuming I do marry my current love.] He is Scot/Irish & I am Scotish/American Indian. I would love to go back to both of our roots & marry in a castle!

Why the West Coast of Scotland as opposed to other areas?

My grandmother was born & raised in Montreal. I would loveto go there also someday to expolore some family history.

My early years were spent just outside of Glasgow and I still have memories of the area. Not much had changed on my last trip and I even found the little farmhouse that we stayed in on vacation as kids on the Isle of Mull. Every corner you turn is another jaw dropper for scenery. My most recent experience was the West Coast, next time I'll probably do 3 weeks and explore other areas and down further into England. Last time I spent a week and a half in Scotland, a few days with my family in Newcastle (Warkworth is a beautiful town just north, stay above the pub) followed by a wasted week in Holland that would have been better used in the UK.

Guam,Cuba,Playa del Carmen,Belize,Florida,Bonaire. Wouldn't go to Aruba either, however, there's about 15 people missing from Alabama but only hear about the one from a cruise ship in Aruba, slow month for CNN.

You're right southern Argentina, Patagonia are wonderful. Was there last year as well. Could probably live without Terre del Fuego again, but Calfate and the glaciers were awsome.

Give me a remote fishing lodge in Ontario Canada in the summer. Nothing like catching walleye, northern, and muske on a lake without seeing another boat all day. Then frying up your catch on a campfire in the evening.

Most western States in the US,
Daytona, Tampa, Miami (South Beach but only to see "adult entertainment" on a long layover), Peru 3 times - L & T - LOVED Machu Pichu, but preferred Iquitos (near headwaters of the Amazon) for vacation - reminded me of AC, Guatemala, both east and west sides, AND (for Carla) Gernsey - wonderful prarie dog towns by the way.
Only 28 days til AC!!!

The Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper, Alberta has to be the most beautiful drive in the world.

The whole province of British Colombia is gorgeous. The Mount Robson area is especially stunning.

We loved the Normandy coast of France. We went to Mont St. Michel for sunrise before the crowds arrived [Linked Image] ...magnificent.

If you have time and really want to get away for a few days check out Sicily. I was there four years ago about this time of year, and aside from a few tourists in Taormina my wife and I didn't run into anyone from a tour group. We visited small towns along the north and east coasts from Palermo to Messina, down to Taormina and back using the train. If you do go bring some snacks, not many restaurants are open in small towns during the off season. Chips and soda had to work for dinner on more than one occasion.

I'd like to be a stowaway in your suitcase! You're going to all of the spots that I'd like to go to!

I want to go to Africa so badly. A woman I work with just got back from a similar trip & just couldn't stop raving about how amazing it was.

Where did you stay for the Safari??

I love the Adirondacks too! Winter is incredible and summer is just about perfect.
But, I am a beach lover and really love St. John. Actually thinking about buying a small place in St. Croix.

For Diving: Maldives, Bonaire, Palau - Tahiti - All fabulous. Cozumel is good for a close dive destination. They are much more intent on protecting the reef there than in Belize. Don't know how it fared after the hurricane, though.

Aruba - never again. "One happy island" - NOT! We call it A-RUDE-a! Nice beaches, though.

St. John is nice. Don't like St. Thomas or St. Maarten.

Alaska B4 U Die! for sure!

Just to name a few.

I would love to go to Costa Rica, but I'm not into surfing at all, so i'm not sure what areas to go to.

Jaco Beach is touristy....but not as bad as Tamarindo.......if you want to get out and way go to Quepos, or Zancudo....and if you really want to see the rainforest and get away from the tourists go to San Vito...the haliconia capital of Central America.

LACYSBEACH.....In august of 2005 I was fortunate enough to take a tour of southern Costa Rica. My guide was an ex-pat who has lived there for 15 years. We toured from San Jose to Jaco Bay, Domincal, Quepos, through to the Osa Penninusla, Golfito, Zancudo, Neilley and finally to San Vito. From there we finally crossed the border into Panama and visited Volcan Baru....which doesn not even resemble what you would think you would see in Panama.....anyhow....San Vito is in the high mountains at the crest between the Pacific and the Caribbean. The Wislon Botanical Gardens are there, as well as large populations of Toucans and Howler Monkeys. San Vito is a small town not quite as large as San Pedro. Half the population is ex-pats and the other half are natives. It is by far one of the most beautiful parts of Costa Rica I have ever seen. I sent Marty some pictures a month or so ago...and if you ask him I'm sure he will share those with you.....I do not have a website so I can't put them up for you on this Board. A lot of Americans and Canadians live there and it is a very quiet, but social community....it is 30 miles north of Panama in South Central Costa Rica. A personal frined of mine has recently built a new home there (he loves San Pedro too) but the quietness and natural beauty of San Vito is hard to beat. The San Vito area in Costa Rica is untouched by tourism.

How long will it take from Texas,i.e. from Brownsville, to San Pedro if a road was built down the Corona Freeway tomorrow? a guess??Of course you have to consider the pay off schedules and bribe times, but just a guess..and all the mosquitoes..Just Kidding!!

In my younger days I wanted to go west from the east coast, so i found my self in the seattle area, north to Vancouver witch is my favorite north american city. then south passed thru Oregon on my way to California. gotta go to Tijuana when your 20 i think i remember it. well when your on the west coast i thought keep heading west. wond up in Singapore,Thailand, and South Korea. I just loved the whole Asia experiance. years later i came back to the East cost and settled down. finally shiped the youngest to college, and resumed some travel. 1st trip last year AC fell in love reminds me of the far east to some extent. planing 2nd trip soon.

Portugual.. northern wine country, Spain, northern part, France ( once is enough), England, Germany, Brazil was awesome. Heading to Ireland for my 15th time in March! ( family there) Lots of carribean islands, each unique but have enjoyed AC as far as islands go the most!

Hey Malibu,

You'll enjoy London. I second what Kaye& Scott said. You have to do all the tourist things. That's really what it's all about. Be sure to use the "tube" at some point to get around. We also took a cruise up the Thames which was nice. I would get a map and try to figure out what sites are closest to each other to maximize your time. Have a great trip....Rhonda smile
