She looks very much abused. I think someone should call the ASPCA....what a shame. Poor thing! She's as spoiled as MY dogs.... better known as the bed hogs.

Thanks guys. BASENJI? I'll have to look that up. Both of our cats came from the local animal shelter. They love Emily, too. No Emily doesn't bark much, but she can kiss you to death. And she is really smart although, she thinks she's a cat. We took her to the park where there is a dog run. She was frighten at first of the other dogs. She's never been around dogs, just cats. A couple of dogs started to chase her one at a time. Then she ran abruptly face to face with another dog. She yelped as if hurt. Then about 6-8 dogs ganged up and started chasing her. They backed her up to a corner of the fence, before we, along with other dog owners could rescue her. She was scared to death. So was I. We'll take her back when it's not so crowded. My husband said it was because the other dogs sense she was afraid and the weaker one. I think it was because they were jealous of her Belizean accent. The bullies!!!
I'd love to bring her back to visit Belize but, I wouldn't want her to travel in the baggage compartment. She'll have to stay with relatives.

ArtZ SmartZ, that's a purebred Curbstone Setter. My hound, Jess the Wonder Dog, wants her phone number. The Basenji , which I've heard called "the African Barkless dog" by someone who owned one, is as fine an animal as you'll ever meet. They're great dogs and your Emily should love you for years. Give her a pat on the head for me. Dan

Oh my Gosh..she's precious. I can see why you adopted her. I have three adopted dogs, and three adopted cats. Wouldn't part with any of them. My highfalutin purebred Papillion thinks they are riffraff, but they don't care. We love them all the same, and feel very blessed to have them. Was it difficult adopting Emily? Hard to get her home via the plane? I am considering it, but not sure if it's fair to bring an unsuspecting little one into a house full of chaos. Anyhow, congratulations on your bundle of love.

How wonderful. I don't think I've ever met anyone with a papillion already. I know people who have gotten one or two after meeting mine. I had two, but the baby passed away in September. Broke my heart. The old man I have now is the boss around here. He's 12, but has more getupngo than the young labs. I have thought about bringing him with me, but not sure how well he'd do on the plane. He's a little bit bigger than regulation AKC allowances. Kind of a mutant papillion, but still the attitude. He's a little bigger, ears a wee bit smaller, and has a crook in his tail, but we love him anyhow. He doesn't know he's a mutant. Actually, he's a puppy mill dog, rescued, and wonderful. How hard is it to travel with dogs?
