Truth be told - most people like their cats independent and a little ornery. Cats can be domesticated just as much as dogs. In the 60's we got a cat and leash trained him. We took him back packing and he chased dogs. He never scratched any furniture and lived to be 16 years old. He, like Simon's cat, knew he was beautiful and would pose like the oriental statues. He especially liked posing on the olive green carpeting (hey it was the 60's) and could make his eyes the same color. He was black, born on March 13 so we named him Friday.
My last cat just walked in one day and took over just as I was finishing the book by Sue Grafton, "B is for Burglar" so I named him Bogart. Bogie never used a little box and pooped in other people's yards. LOL He only walked on the hood of the old grouch who lived next door and had a scaredy cat.
When I get my new house built I will get a cat from SAGA to go with my two potlickers. I'm sure he will keep the critters out of my vegetable garden.

There has been some great humor written here - even the mean stuff was funny!

i do respond to dear turkey

i only hunt with cameras. grew up hunting because it was required as a man. can't stand killing things. so i shot a lot of crabapples. fine for others, i just look into the eyes of the deer and there is no way on the earth i could kill it.

i do feed em. special deer food. and i take em water every day. i have salt licks, vitamin licks, corn compress deer licks. lick lick lick.

lotsa baby deer too. the cats walk right up to even the big ones and everyone is fine. my macaw doesn't mind em either anymore. often i will look out and see 8-10 in the yard.

lots of foxes, owls, hawks, eagles too. found a hurt baby one crying a bit back and took the bleeding thing to the hospital. some dog must have gotten it. and the fox hospital was 20 miles away. those aren't on every block. have found many hurt birds and took them in for tuneup and repair. nearly always they make it.

:>

i love the forest.
