I wont, gets rediculous in my opinion. The purpose of this board is to find out about SP/Belize. Not what Law has going on in or out of the court room. Most of you are interesting but the others leave a bit to be desired in the class department.

The class department is on the third floor, next to men's furnishings. Watch your step as you get off the escalator.

Of course you don't, luvinlife - never figured you would. Also don't figure you're new to the board - just posing under a new name.
Feel free to breeze on past any of my posts as I'm not making them for your benefit anyway!

I think this is a quite interesting thread. Not directly linked to AC, but still the sort of 'crap' that gets discussed every day, all day in bars across San Pedro, so actually it feels like home.

As for the question at hand, I am very familiar with a number of profane words and have even been known to invent my own. I agree wholeheartedly with what a number of people have stated - if the rule is not specific it is not valid. By using the term 'profanity' without any clear guidelines leaves the enforcement of the rule open to abuse and leaves it totally subjective.

A good friend of mine used to do the censorship of a number of TV programmes for the UK. There was never any issue about what was profane or what wasn't. She was given a list of words by the lawyers and told exactly how many times each word could be said during each time period. She did get into an argument about context not that long ago concerning an intellectually deep tv show called 'Celebrity Pets'. One of the dogs (owned by Missy Elliot) was wearing a t-shirt that said 'I hate Tinkerbell (Paris Hilton's dog). That bitch has everything'. The lawyers had stated that this was profane durinig the time it was being broadcast and requested that the word be blurred on the t shirt. My friend argued whole heartedly that in context, the word bitch was completely appropriate as it referred to the gender of the dog. My friend won the argument. Small victory against censorship........ I think.

Anyway, it goes back to the old George Carlin thing that you can prick your finger, but you can't finger your prick. But if you were driving through a town that had a sign that said 'please don't drive too fast' and you were busted for speeding, you'd have a pretty good argument for vagueness and I think the same applies here.

sorry if i missed something here, (sped read?) but what was the original violation and the exact terms of probation? if this has been answered please disregard. BTW, crap should not be considered profanity. jmho
