I'm actually staying at Cahel Pech Resort and they said:
The transfer is in a A/C vehicle from Cahal Pech Village to the marine Terminal in Belize City, cost is $92.65 US includes all taxes for the two of us. Sounds like a lot.

Ah-ah! This is one of those border cross coach buses. These are operators that x-cross the bordering countries of the region. (more comfy for longer rides).

That fare for a coach bus is pretty accurate. With the cost of fuel and A/C seems a bit steep, but I bet.

So, down to brass tax. You want a local Belizean bus, these are mostly refurbished Blue Birds from the US. (I used to ride these in grade school). No A/C, everyday folks getting from A to B. This is not luxury travel, but cheap and it's the local way to flow.

Okay, so there's some static right now where Novello's (one of the largest local ops) is ass out. I read in the news they lost their charter. But there are other bus companies. Check in at the bus station in San Ignacio for times and best rates (express to BZ or transfer at Belmopan).

The bus station in Belize City in across town from Marine Terminal. You can probably haggle a taxi ride for about $ 12 - 15US.

I totally recommend the local buses. I would do it again in a hot second (except that hangover ride from Placencia to Dangriga). But I slept it off just fine.

Hi,

I agree with the previous messagers, the bus is best, preferably the express bus to Belize City - it's very cheap and only takes about 2 hours. It's also an interesting ride as you get to see a lot of the culture and people going about their daily business. I recommend catching the water taxi as it also is good fun and very cheap but if you can afford it, you might want to fly one leg of the journey. It'll only cost you about $30 USD one way from the Municipal Airport (Belize City) and only takes about 15 minutes, plus you get a spectacular low level view over the sea to the Caye. You can even sit next to the pilot if you ask nicely which makes it even more exciting. Check out the two airlines that do the trip below. Don't fly to or from the International airport to the Cayes though as you'll pay twice as much as from the Muncicipal which is actually in Belize City and about a $10 BZD taxi ride from the bus station.

You can also fly on either Maya Island or Tropic Air from the San Ignacio airstrip to Belize City and on to Caye Caulker. Check with the local airlines. They started this service last year and I saw Tropic airplanes landing in Cayo over the holiday weekend.

Thanks and cheers,
Wendy
