Has everyone ever stayed at Costa Maya Reef and rented a golf cart?

The weekly pass is only a good deal if you use it six times-that is not a good deal as it means you feel you have to go and use it-added to the fact it every other hour and the drivers are not that good at remembering which resorts they have to visit -without a doubt go private-it is way cheaper and much quicker-you do not stop at every resort-you travel in comfort-you get to feel that it is your chauffered driven boat (romantic)

If it has not rained it is between 45 minutes and an hour to drive from
Costa Maya to town. It is NOT fun. If it has rained there are some very big mud holes where golf carts routinely get stuck. Most of the folks living up there that drive do so on ATV or motorcycles.
Yes, Costa Maya has a boat that goes to town several times a day and Sterling (Island Ferry) is selling week long passes at a reasonable price.
If you really want the adventure of driving a golf cart just drive one around town.

People here on this board are giving you some very valuable information. I hope you take it to heart.

We have an unlimited week pass that we sell only at your orientation for $49 per week. Most people travel to town at least three times. The IF price to town without the pass is $25US. So the value is realized on the second trip. You can also use the pass to travel to other resturants on the island without going all the way into town. The pass has gotton an excellent responce at Costa Maya. You propably wont take the golf cart more than once and you shouldnt do it at night.

The benevolent Peter allways trying to help out. It cost you more to go to town once a private than it cost for unlimited access on Island Ferry. Thanks Peter I didnt think about marketing it that way.

I hope it was you islandferry that had the sense to delete your post. That is exactly what is not needed on the board.

Unfortunately while we were there the week pass was not available. Rather than rent a cart I would buy the week pass. As was suggested take a day in town and rent a cart to adventure around. Hope you have a wonderful time!!!
