Nothing wrong with One Barrel it's a great rum but side by side against a Zacapa it doesn't hold up as they are 2 totally different rums (One Barrel is a flavoured rum.) I see your point but it's kind of like saying why buy Canadian Whiskey in the US. To take it further why buy imported vodka when there's a "fine" local vodka in Belize.

If the price is $40US in th states then $57US isn't a bad deal for a regular and legal supply in Belize.

Personally the only domestically produced rum I like is One Barrel and maybe Durley's. The Caribbean and Old Master brand, to me, are awful. IMHO. Appleton, Bacardi and the best, Ron Zacapa. It's nice to have several different rums in your bar for different occassions, like cigars, Dominicans are the best, but nice to once in a while light up a Montecristo. Variety!

how come no locals i hear from drink cane juice? it's been our favorite since the early 90's. i make sure to get a bottle or 3 everytime i'm there. very clean taste and i have had nothing but compliments on it. it is soooo good with fresh lime and sugar.

i never much cared for one barrel and neither does bf; it has too much added flavor.(please dont hit me!!)

Cane Juice is good, a Traveller's product as is One Barrel. I think it was made to export mainly, but a great product. It was so clean they marketed it with test tube shooter glasses! Too clean for me, I'm just a dirty white boy!

Brazilan cane juice..pinga/cacha...costs as much as the finished product...Rum...in our area.

The headache factor doesn't even matter....

Just bought a bottle of 23 yo Guatamalteco in CT for under $40 w/out tax. Did an at home tasting against Aniversario...Venezuelan...years aged unknown....smell is about the same....the 23 yo has a spicier taste with less bite.

SIN thanks for your suggestion

&nbsp Sir Isaac,
Zacapa is a heck of a rum, but an entirely diffrent product compared to One Barrel. Zacapa is a Spanish rum, whereas One Barrel is in the British style. Zacapa is aged ten times as long and it's a premium product costing several times as much. Really an apples vs. oranges thing.

&nbsp Have you tried Clarke's Court rums from Grenada? That's a British type rum. They have a mass-market rum that's in the same category as One Barrel or Duurley's. They also have "Old Grog", which is a 3-5 year old rum. They're quite good.
