What does that mean, Marty? Sea receding?

It could be (probably is) receding because of the fetch of wind out of the west since they're on the south side of Dean. I remember that happened once when I was down there (can't remember which storm did it, but we never actually got hit by the storm). It's also sometimes a precursor to storm surge.

Those latitudes are what I have on a print out from Lan from Oct 2001.
Thanks for being the "lifeline" again, Marty!

Jim: started at bridge for a patrol. lagoon, water has breeched some portions of the sealwall, especially by the boatyard. river getting higher. winds not too bad but increasing as the patrol went along. about 20 knots now

haven't seen anyone in the streets. very quiet and hunkered down. went down by bc's and the rivers are coming in further on the beach

Been to AC many times and absolutely love Belize. Praying for everyone still in the area, hopefully things won't get as bad as predicted. For a great up to the moment picture look on www.weather.com at the interactive satelite picture of Dean (http://www.weather.com/outlook/trav...R0133?zoom=6&interactiveMapLayer=sat). You can zoom in and out and it actually shows San Pedro on the map when you zoom in, it is great. Also, does anyone know if Lil' Alfonse is still on the island/how he's doing? I already checked the other forums and couldn't find any info about him. Marty keep up the updates, if it wasn't for you I would probably be having a heart attack up worrying up here. Thanks a lot!

curfew in effect, bdf soldiers patrolling with police, and are armed. suggests residents stay in tonight, no need to come out and check anythihg. do that in daylight when curfew over.

no incidents reported so far at all. residents heeding the warnings on the radio

5 miles North of town:

'just was out in the backyard taking a peek... W-I-N-D-Y... hard pressed to guess what the gusts are coming in at... trees starting to get tussled about pretty good... VERY sporadic still, up and down in speed. Very little rain at this point...

AMAZING we still have power... wierd, as BEL has been having trouble keeping the power on up north when it's been nice out all this past week...

no idea what the water is like, not going to venture out in front... last look there was a LOT of erosion and a few pieces off our pier... imagine our docks will not be standing come morning...

Does it look like a lot of people have evacuated off the island
