Thank you for the update. Irresponsible owners aside, chronic conditions can be really tough and sometimes euthanasia is the humane course. Thank you to everyone who helped Ranger find peace.

I didn't find this thread depressing at all. I like that so many are so attached to animals.

True Leah-Ann.. it just goes to show that there are truly caring people in this world. My 4 surviving dogs would agree.. my male min-pin in my lap, my female min pin sitting next to me (snoring) and my 2 rescue lab/mixes in the back yard.. I make sure they have food, water, love, belly scratches.. (the mixes will run up to me and roll over for belly rubs) and more than enough attention than they can handle. Sometimes I prefer the company of animals over people. They love unconditionaly..

Chante was my sons dog, then became mine, we brought her down here when we moved down 4 years ago, she did not do well, she was old, she had a wonderful life. I adopted a local dog Sheba, she was poisoned , meant for the dog next door, they went to heaven togather. She died in my arms. Now I have Jack, big friendly guy, he was about dead when I got him, skin and blood disease, skinny and bleeding everywhere, most thought he would never make it, with lots of love, months of injections and medicine that he will always have to take he is my new best friend. Every day we pass the graves of my other two best friends on our run.

As a vet tech, I deal with euthanasia on an almost daily basis. While it's never easy, WE as humans have the ability to help our dear friends along to the other side. It is a gift that only we as humans can give them. As far as the owners who turned their backs on Ranger,....what goes around, comes around.

Amen Teenah.. I worked as a vet tech for 4 years in Mississippi.. It was hard, but at least to know they were no longer in pain was my one comforting thought. I cried many a day. And I still will, but like you said, what comes around, goes around.. I just wish I could be there to see what happened to the jerks most of the time....we had an incident in Seguin a while back.. I can't even talk about it.. some assshlllllllllll kids threw a puppy out a second story window.. twice.. and did horrible things to it.. I just pray it died after the first flight into the air.. because I want to beat the hell out of the kids................

Those kind of stories make me want to find out what happened to the kids - in my experience it's generally their parents that are to blame...

LA.. I don't know... But whether or not it was the parents to blame, it was the kids doing it.. Parents were not standing behind them w/ a gun forcing them to do it.. sometimes kids to go weird on us.. for what ever reason.. They do know right from wrong..........or, maybe they don't.

While this thread isn't depressing I can't stop the tears as I read about your dogs' that have passed. I have often felt the love for my dogs is unatural- the mere thought of their deaths makes me think of going on disability- We have 3 yorkies and an English Bulldog named Lilly. I followed this story with interest and was afraid to ask Kristine (RNDiver) what had happened. To any of you that tried to help Ranger, I commend you for your efforts. What a wonderful world with wonderful people. It seems alarming to me how many of you have had your dogs poisoned, I am so sorry for your losses. I hope that when the time comes for us, I am there to hold my babies when they go to heaven.
