Expiration dates not just a problem in SP. When I lived in NYC I always checked the dates. Often found packages of meat with one date on the bottom, stamped by the producer, and another, later date stamped on the top. At one point there was a big outcry when it was discovered that countless corner stores in low income neighborhoods were selling expired baby formula. I make it a point to check whenever I purchase items in convenience stores as things tend to move slower because of higher prices. I ALWAYS check dates on things like mayo, eggs and meat as these can really make you sick if they're past their expiration date.

Seashell, We (Used) to shop @ Island market because they had a lot of product on the shelves (One stop). We also used to (& still shop) @ the stores on the circle (Round a bout)for some items. Most times when we have company with us we use Simon to provision us with necessary items. Where would you suggest we shop at up north, Caye-Mart @ Captain Morgans? confused I am not aware of any (pardon the expression) Super Markets north of the cut. Let me know if there are.

Yes, dates are expired and yes, prices are higher than they probably should but at least it's not Wal-Mart!!!!

I don't want Walmart on the island but it might be an asset in Belize City.

Is Castilo/Santiago still open?

Hey, 2miles, didn't mean to make you all agitated. I was just wondering why you would go all the way down to Island Market when you could shop at the "circle" and/or the Superbuy instead. There was no implication that there's a grocery store up north.

Seashell, Not agitated at all. (Sorry if it came across that way) I thought you had some new shopping spot or something. We usually travel by boat while on the island so the circle stores work fine for us as we can tie up on Wet Willy's dock for short periods of time. The island supermarket was an inconvenience for us anyway and we would go there only if we were renting a cart to run errands in town. The ice was usually half melted by the time we got it home anyway laugh
