Interval International bought a building there, and the units will be sold as time shares. They will pay Reef Village the maintenance fees for each unit, which will be a lot of money, when you think about each unit, times 52 weeks, times what ever the maintenance fees will be. This will be a great off-set for the full time owners, and the project will have to keep the area up to the specifications of the II standards. We own an II unit here in the states, and it's fantastic, always in perfect condition, from the pool to the bar/restaraunt. I think it's a good idea, and even though we will be selling our condo, we will still have the villa, and I think, or at least I hope, it will be a "good thing" for all concerned.

Paradise Villas: Well, the location is great, and "courtyard" design facing the beach is too.But the units, or rather the owners of the units, do not keep them up very well.At least the one I stayed in, and a few I have viewed inside.JMHO

I will try not,to start a war or get anyone ticked off ..but know way is time share ever good for a condo with a strong Hoa. and people that want to see investment increse... And for the condo owners who think it will bring in lots of money!!!! Wrong....Greed factor starts the brain to get excited.!!!best to have owners who care about there investments then a team of sharks around.if time share was so good why do they need to have sharks close the sale and beat people up to buy.???????????? .think better, no time share and good karma..Again just my humble opinion ..

So the developers interest clock is ticking, he's frantically loking for sales...they're slow...and along comes a timeshare company and offers to buy a whole building. You expect him to turn them down? HA!!!

What a shame though.YOU sure that's what happened???
Too bad, because that property is turning out very nice, and I think will be pretty awesome if they ever get it finished, along with the shops and theatre. I know several people who bought there(NO, not me).I think I'm going down in Feb. Was there last Feb also,It will be interesting to see if some of those villas completed(if any are) On their website it looks like some are done.

We toured the condo and they were very nice quality. I spoke to the owner and he has the time shares at the first condo building. The villa's are coming along nicely we toured that also and what we saw we loved. Nice roof decks.

WE are very happy with our investment, and the time share people asked to purchase, and they are building a unit for them, not one that had been planned. They are building one, in addition to the original planned units. If it doesn't pan out as planned, oh well, life goes one. If it does, then it will help with keeping the development up to standards. I know there are a few developements there that have gone slightly down hill, whether it be to age, or dis-interest of the management. In any event, I am happy to share the area with time share buyers, it gives those who don't have the $$ to buy a whole unit, the chance to have a litte piece of the dream.
We have spoken to all concerned with the power that is, and this is how we understand the efforts. If it isn't,I appologize for forwarding incorrect information. I guess I am wearing the rose tinted glasses, and only see the positive. Thanks for bringing me back to realilty, Capt.Jeff. I hope it doesn't work out the way you think it will.

I'm with you S&S. The first time I went to A.C. I saw the place where they planned to build.I thought they were absolutely nuts! Dredging a lagoon to "build" some land!!!??? But anyway, it has turned out so nicely it'd be a shame if the properties weren;t kept up nicely. Anyone living in one of the villas there yet? When teh shops get done and the theatre is in, I think it;s really gonna be "the spot" to go. You?

we def. don't want to purchase something that involved dredeging a lagoon. No time shares either. Looking for a condo to visit as often as time will allow. Also if there are LESS renters there and time shares are NOT preferred, I know when they don't own the place they tend to be less well kept.

I totally understand Jill, to each his own. There are several places there that are on "reclaimed land" and there will be many more. The island is only so big, and unfortunaltly, will be made bigger as demand dictates.
This project has been discussed many times on this forum, and I don't feel the need to re-hash the old news. I had the same opinion of time shares as you did, but there are many resorts on the island that ARE timeshare oriented, and life goes on, the full time owners blend nicely with the time share owners. That is the attraction to the island, the way people just get along. I hope your opinion changes a little when you find your piece of the dream. Not everyone is blessed to be able to afford what you are looking for, or what we and many others have found. As for LESS renters, the island is growing by leaps and bounds. Unless you find an out of the way location that a developer hasn't found yet, you will have many neighbors, and most of them will be part timers, not full time residents.
Good Luck, I hope you find it.
Travingal, I agree with you. I had my doubts when this first started, and am very pleased, and look forward to getting there more and more each time. I don't think anyone has moved into a villa yet, but I plan on moving into mine the minute it is finished.
