It was interesting one time while I was in Vegas talking to one of the locals. He said, "if you wanna know who makes the real money gambling, take a look at the size of these casino/hotels. The newer ones that open, like Wynn, Sands, etc... they are literally paid off in full in only a few months of operation." These are billion dollar prorperties! Of course casino owners want patrons to win, if they don't win something, they won't come and gamble... but they never win more than they lose... in the end!

Three reasons I won't visit the new casino:

1. They allow smoking and I've been told the ventilation is non-existent.

2. They charge gamblers for drinks.

3. They don't yet have a poker room.

Regarding the ridiculous post about "Pedro's Gambling"...what nonsense. It's a private game between friends. There is no "rake per hand" and we pay normal bar prices for drinks, pizza etc. We pay a voluntary one time sit down fee to help offset the cost of cards, dealer, air conditioning of the back room, etc.

We also play a private game at Fidos once a week.

And, we play in a smoke free environment at Pedro's as the back room is strictly non-smoking. Fido's recently went "non smoking" for its poker game too.

If the casino wants to go after Pedro's and/or Fidos private poker games which are played by respected and respectful residents/business people of San Pedro then I guess it will be time for us to start making noise about going after drug dealers, money launderers etc.

My recommendation is to "Live and Let Live." Hey, casino owners, how about that smoking and those drinks charges? I'd like to give your establishment a try.

They charge gamblers for a drink? That's absurd, they are "paying" for those drinks everytime the dealer deals a new hand, or the one-arm bandit gets a new pull! Not that I am much of a gambler, tho...

What awesome power He wields. Almost 12 hours without a post.

They charged us for the first drink then comped the rest......I think they're trying to avoid the people that want to go with $5.00 in hand and expect to drink 10 times that much.....makes sense.

When are they going to be opening the upstairs? Will they have craps or texas hold em up there.
