Fireman were flown in from the mainland last night (early morning) to help contain the blaze. I think one of the small homes next door has been destroyed. Although the wings building seemed fairly intact when I went by earlier this morning it was still billowing smoke. The building won't be structurally sound after the baking that it just had.
The traffic is being diverted over the airstrip.
It sounds like nobody has been injured - which is a true blessing.
They seem to have the flare up under control now. There was tons of black smoke while I waited to cross the airstrip northbound but it turned back to white by the time I passed.
