So this is interesting. I wondered if the one negative I mentioned would be noticed. Not only noticed, but the only item discussed!
Please realize this was an observation, not a criticism. There could be many and varied reasons why some don't feel the problem exists, or that they are not affected. But a theory comes to mind, and that is that denying it exists might keep it from being dealt with.
Anyway, take it or not from someone who came to check out property. The situation is problematic, and is definitely a disincentive to visitors/investors in my opinion. Again, that you don't mind it or even see it could be due to many things. Maybe you don't walk the beaches like the tourists do. Who knows? But it's there, and it's not enjoyable, and cannot be successful for the real estate sellers involved.
I hope that someday we can put aside our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.

Irrespective of our attempt at humor, I believe most of us agree with you. Referring to skippy. Not you Ernie.

I've been to San Pedro 5 times and have been bothered by time sharers, but really not bothered by it. Some need to get a grip and avoid the gripe.

I always just ask the time share sales folks if they want to buy a dime bag or some wood carvings.

reaper, way too funny! I've never been approached either but I just resort to the fact that I look poor. skippy, I found of your report rather useful, just don't have any comments. Oh, if you buy at Las Terrazas, can I come over for a swim?

When we were there a couple weeks ago, we were approached twice for timeshares. The first by Reef Village when we stopped at their bar for a couple waters and the second when we stopped at Captain Morgan's for a drink at their bar.
I consider both of them our own fault for putting ourselves in the position to get pitched.
But in the past when I've been approached, I usually tell them either that I'm poor or that I already own on the island. Or if the person is particularly annoying, I tell them that I'm a nudest and make sure that they don't mind a pasty-white fat guy flopping around on their beach.

We got hit by Reef Village peddlers almost everytime we left our complex just north of the bridge (sometimes by the same guy). By the end of our stay we just kept driving and tried to ignore them... or told them we already owned. We have never seen this level of intrusion in our travels to Barbados, Antigua, Grenada, Tobago, St. Lucia, Martinique or Mexico. Sure leaves a bad impression of AC... After hearing from Frances how the Reef Village developer is going to cut off access to Holy Cross school, Reef Village would be one of the last places I would buy.
