"I just don't feel there are enough that controls what development happens."
Absolutely agree! You only have to look at places like Bermuda, Nantucket and many other islands and towns to see what good can be accomplished when guidelines are put in place and strictly enforced. Those places are sought out by tourists because they have a "feel" to them that keeps roots in the past while allowing for development.

You see, I don't think the casino proposed meets any of the requirments you mentioned. Granted those are subjective depending on ones point of view.

Being serious, I only point that out to illustrate the need for guidlines. I just don't feel there are enough that controls what development happens. For the record, I'm not opposed to guidelines. The need for a well thought out development plan which is followed strictly with a documented ammendment process is obviously necessary.

Have you seen any reports other than what was posted here? If not, then there obviously isn't enough information to make that determination. You seem to dismiss the idea without the information to see if it meets that criteria.

Floating designer condos for sale, be IN the water not on the beach! Majestic views of those land locked residents on Ambergris Caye. Pre construction specials. Call now to reserve your spot. This is a great business idea and I recommend you follow through on the idea. It's worked well for Dubai and would be a great way to expand development potential without cutting any mangroves or over populating the limited land on the island.

Granted, I said those are subjective. I just happen to believe that the potential damage to the environment and the questionable economic benifit do not justify the project. And as Simon pointed out, I do not see this type of development adding to what AC needs to attract tourism. Trying to be everything for everyone can have its downside. But, this is just my view.

Just park it on the lagoon side...walking distance from the airstrip to relive traffic congestion from the reef side.
