waterbaby...do you still have to give them your credit card up front before they will even search for tickets? I tried it a long time ago and that turned me off. You don't even get a chance to say "Okay, I want those tickets..here is my cc #" or "never mind, that won't work for me". It was my understanding that if they find you ANY flight to where you want to go...your card is automatically charged right then and there. Has this changed? I want to be able to say No if it isn't the itinerary I want or an airline that I don't like.

Ridiver---Hi! Been off line for a few days and just saw your post...don't know if you have your tickets yet...you might try Fly Cheap. They gave me the best prices over Priceline and Skyauction(I kept being outbid on SA &I think it was Dave in Phoenix that was doing it LOL) Good luck!

Dave in Phoenix--Jesse was scheduled to fly to Houston Sat. or Sun(before Keith) for tests.Didn't know how long he was going to be there. We are scheduled to fly down Oct. 25(non-refundable tickets)also to look at property. We also were going to stay at Coconuts at least part of the time while there. I read a post somewhere on the hurricane board that Coconuts didn't have much damage.I had asked for reservation confirmation from them just before the storm, but havn't heard from them yet. I imagine everyone there has their hands full at the moment. Be like me--try not to panic--ha!ha! I'm sure there will be somewhere to stay even if it's on the beach(which probably washed away!)in a tent.

Belize Mama, yes that is the way priceline is. But there is a section where it asks you if you are willing to fly off peak hours which is 10:00pm to 6:00 am so if you say no you are not willing to do this you will most likely have pretty reasonably flights. I've gotten myself tickets to Las Vegas several times and have been very happy with my flight times and have flown Delta every time. It also asks if you are willing to fly on non-jet aircrafts, so you just need to say no and I'm assuming then you will just fly on any major airlines which goes to the destination in which you are requesting. The only problem is you eat the ticket if something comes up and you can't make your flight. Quite a detouring factor if something major comes up and you need to cancel. But all in all the times I've used it I've been pleased and have saved quite a bundle.

You guys would all do better to go through a consolidator, if time allows, and see what the fares are through adjoining countries; i.e. Guatemala, Costa Rica or Mexico...then you just have the fare through Tropic or Mayan Air to worry about!
I've gotten down there for as little as $350.+ the hop from Chetumal...but it is inconvienient at best

I've used priceline over 15 times to various places without issues. Just know if you can't go - bye bye money.

Interestingly, American this week has the cheapest flight to Belize I've ever heard of - $279. It's from Miami and is Thursday/Friday down, Monday/ Tuesday back.
I think that's related to reduced traffic from Keith.

I did some comparison shopping at lyndend's www.latindiscounters.com site and they have some very good prices. I wich I had know about this site last week before I made my flight reservations to Mexico. I could have saved beaucoup bucks. Check it out, it may be the kind of consolidator site you are looking for.
