And what would you tell them to avoid paying duty on a printer if you plan on bringing it back with you.

And for that matter our PSC cost 40 US new and we paid 9% duty, just not that big a deal if you have to pay. Just bring the reciepts.

I wondered how long it would be until someone let this poor woman know about all the "laws" she would be breaking!

What I'd like to know is where they keep that secret book that tells you which "laws" it's ok to ignore, because adherence to the "law" in San Pedro by some expats and visitors appears to be pretty random.

I can never remember which is better . . . safe? . . . or sorry?

Well, so far the talley is something like this.

It's OK to ignore or even encourage crock feeding depending on who you are.

It's OK to live full time in Belize have no work permit nor pay any income tax to Belize as long as you earn your income via the internet. Again, as long as you are liked here on the board then it's OK.

It's OK to buy and smoke pot but don't you dare cut any mangrove, unless you can smoke it of coarse.

It's OK to have developed the condos / houses that the current boarder expats bought / built / live in but don't you dare build any more!

And GOD forbid you have any opinion not in line with the elite few who run this message board. That I'm certain is against the law and will be aggressively enforced.

Some good things to think about - thanks all for the comments. And good point about the legality of 'working remotely' while there. It's mostly an R&R trip. I'm a partner in a biz that I need to at least stay in touch with while I'm away. Not doing hard core, income deriving work. Don't know if that makes a difference although I guess I should look into it. Or heck ---- great reason to tell my partners to leave me the heck alone - I'm at the beach or under water diving! wink

I disagree, Marty knows that not everyone is a fan of his beloved Oregon Ducks and yet he lets us play with the others.

Ok back to topic;
Sal - there are internet cafe's on the island and I bet they will let you print and do all that work stuff for a nominal fee. I personally would just tell work that you are taking a vacation and that the printer cable won't stretch out that far to the reef! Have fun!
