Miami meltdown???? Doesn't really have anything to do with AC other than in the SB project name.

Consider this - if the developent creates income for locals and that is spent on the island then of course quality of life will improve. Maybe lowering crime. A tourist tax used for infrastructure....IE SCHOOLS, ROADS, WATER. Why should the developers get all of the windfall.

i asked the DOE reps at one EIA directly if they had a plan or any guidelines as to when to say enough is enough. too many people will ruin everything belize has going for it. (i'm using the placencia peninsula as my example)
they responded that, no, they had no plan, but yes,,they agreed we should do a study!
they have approved every huge development that has came their way since, witch equal all total somewhere near 10,000 MORE people! (in a perfect tourist world)

i have not seen one single EIA disapproved, and some of the biggest, most controversial projects here were not even required to have one! no public meeting, nothing. the work just mysteriously began?

The promise of jobs is just not enough. I have read up on the meeting no one really said "ok" if your going to build it anyway what does AC get for it.....besides jobs. If they are going to build it anyway I'd love to see AC get some of the windfall thats all. Maybe SB won't pass the common sense test but I wouldn't put all my hopes on that. The EIA may put some restrictions on the project since it is an environmental sensitive area.

Thanks for you input sweetjane....it was so refreshing
