I saw in the paper where Jeff is willing to sell the road access to The Holy Cross School back to The Belize Government for $10 million USD. Maybe a power play for the South beach permit?

while i understand it is well within his rights to do whatever he pleases with his land, i greatly disrespect anyone who 'takes the low road'.

this is a dirty shame, and i am disappointed with the GOB. like peter, when places like SB come, i will go elsewhere to vacation. at that point, i may as well just go where it will be the same, but cheaper, like isla or playa....

What I read in the paper said that Alex Nunez, land owner of a portion of land that the Holy Cross school thought it was going to receive from the GOB has stated that he will consider selling the land to the school for no less than $1 million US.

If the government of Belize finds the necessity to declare a road that includes a portion of private land typically the land owner is compensated for this portion of land with either a trade of another portion of land or with an agreement of payment for the land. The value of the land is assessed at fair market value and government can take up to 20 years to make the payment.

Isn't Alex Nunez the guy who works in Planning, and can approve or veto up to a point? Or am I thinking of another Nunez?

None of the seven parcels of land South, who have land from sea to lagoon were compensated when they took our land for a road. Actually Jeff Pierce has to cross this land to get to his.

There were no road easements marked on the survey of the properties? Who'd buy a piece of land without a road access?
