That would mean that very little cash exchanges hands, and would eliminate at least a couple of jobs at the bridge. I'm guessing that's part of the reason that the idea wasn't greeted with open arms.

HA HA HA HA - The number of people stationed at the bridge has nothing to do with how much there is for them to do.
ALSO - when the bridge was first opened the toll booth was to close down at 6:00. Lately I have noticed them open at 8:00.
ALSO - they now make me stop EVERY time and they mark an "X" on the day of the month on my pass.
ALSO - it is a fickle process and not everyone is treated the same. I would be curios to see figures on how much money is taken in and how much it costs to operate the bridge.
ALSO - more and more full sized vehicles are crossing.
ALSO - be careful - if you buy a ticket going north on your way in the first day and don't make the return trip until the next day your return ticket is not any good as it is for a different date - SO BEWARE and only buy a one way.

Why would they stop you to mark your pass? I thought you could cross unlimited number of times with a monthly.

With tourism down, would think they might want to make if less expensive. If I were staying south, probably would not want to explore some of the resurtants and bars north and vis-versa. Why do we keep shooting ourselves in the foot by raising prices on everything. This season could be a real breaker for many places.

Travelling to Britain from Europe you don't need a passport, but they still insist you carry one and they inspect it to confirm that you didn't need it.

When we were in SP in November, our real estate agent guide told us that the bridge toll would be dropped once the bridge had been paid for. I don't know when it was built, or at what cost, but is that still the case and when is that likely to happen?
