DeeDeeuz - I have tried beef a few times in Belize. It just doesn't taste like home (type of cow - what they are fed the reason perhaps - or maybe no chemicals?). So I would recommend trying all the local fish, conch (in season), and lobster (in season) prepared with local recipes. I know some restaurants fly in some of their meats from elsewhere - but you'll pay the price.

Ground sirloin is pretty good all over Belize, just know that it is very lean. If you try to make burgers they are very dry, need to add ingredients to make them more moist.

So what is the difference between the ground sirlion and the ground steak? Which would be better for hamburgers?

I do not find much difference except the price. I add bread crumbs, oil, seasonings, and egg, kinda like a meatloaf mix.

Wow...I've lived here for three years and can pretty find anything we need to cook good meals. And we eat all natural, no precooked hydrogenated high fructose corn syrup saturated meals. Where are you guys shopping???

The Ground Steak I buy is from Sausage Factory and is vacuum packed on a tray and frozen. The Ground Sirloin comes from the butcher and is generally not frozen (unless you are buying plastic wrapped packs from the mainland.) I believe that both are the exact same except for the packaging.

I have been looking for half and half for a month now and there is none anywhere. The price of cheese goes up and down faster than a bride's undies, limes have become like little green juiceless tennis balls....Shopping can be very frustrating, especially when you own a restaurant.
As far as shopping on vacation, heck, Simon can do your running around for you for your first few days supplies, have them ready in your place and you can just get off a plane and get into a bikini. Seems pretty easy to me, lol.
