Kerry - I have spoken to three different American Airline agents since seeing this post. The story I got each time was different. So, if you haven't already done so, I would make sure that AA has put your middle name in your reservation under comments if you have/use your middle name in your passport. AA told me that that is the only information they can add at this point. They have to wait for their software update to be able to include age, BD, etc. My fear is that even though AA says it's OK and has informed TSA when they can actually comply - that travlers will get stuck at TSA security.

just called tsa at iah airport...they gave me a number to call for the "SOCC" office(281-443-5341)i was told that if the picture and name match no problem....the man i spoke with said his name on his passport is "thomas" and on his ticket it might say "tom"....i'm at ease after this call...if you have doubt, give them a call...u can get the number for any tsa or socc office, by going to the airport which u are departing from...
happy travels!!!

When I checked in online for my flight, I was given the opportunity to update my ticket with my middle name.

deadserious - which airline allowed you to do this?

Kerry - I just saw on AA's website that they have posted the following statement:

It is important for you to know that the TSA is implementing Secure Flight in phases. American Airlines is working closely with the TSA to comply with the Secure Flight mandate and will begin collecting SFPD from customers at the time of ticket purchase in the Fall of 2009.

This supports what you were told when you called AA.

It would be helpful if any of you are traveling the rest of May and June to report back if you experienced any difference with TSA security.

Will do. Flying AA in June--really hope there is no hold-up. Bought the tickets when they were obscenely cheap in October.
