I ditto the snacks. I always like to have breakfast bars and I take crackers and (don't laugh) squeeze cheese -- that stuff the comes in an aerosol can. Not only is it nice to have with your pre-dinner bottle of wine on the patio but it is very fun to take snorkeling. The fish love it and will swarm around you.

I always bring Trail Mix (Nuts are great with Belikin), flashlight and several little tea light candles for those romantic evenings or in case there is no electricity.

We just returned from the island Friday after staying 3 weeks. From the time we left Belize airport to the time we returned we never had a pair of shoes on our feet. We have a place 3.5 miles south of town, and even walked to town a few times. We had no problem with glass or debris. In that time the no seeums only attacked twice, but just in case, take some baby oil. Also make sure you have at least 1 swimming suit or a change of clothes in your carry on. We didn't get our luggage for 5 days. Its normally not that long, but frequently 1 day delay is normal.

No luggage for 5 days? That would be a huge problem for us since you can't fit the snorkeling gear in the Carry On. Did you fly Taca? People have warned us about this with Taca but we had no problem last year flying LAX-El Salvador-Roatan-Belize-El Salvador-LAX. They put this special orange tag on our suitcase saying something like Express but they only put that on for 1 suitcase per person. Since we knew of the problem we also had each a backpack with essentials but we where not going to do this on this trip. Maybe we should.

How Awful,...five days without luggage. I always pack a change of clothes and suit in carry on. Have to remember SHOES. Just returned from A.C. last week and there is a lot of broken glass. Managed to carry shoes in town and south of town but I was shocked at the amount of broken glass (mostly beer bottles) on waters edge. If you stay on the "beaten" path on the beach just be careful. A flashlight was great for RAY watching at night near the piers. Grocieries were expensive so throw in some canned nuts and snacks too.

Sun guard for lips in those applicator tubes..it makes a great nose, ear and lip sun screen and doesn't make your hands greasy. Lipstick doesn't work..at least on me according to my wife.

Ditto on the "Thermal Travel Mug big enough for a beer".
