Just returned from an international trip and my passport and ticket had 2 different forms of my name. No problem, no one even noticed it.

Delta has also stated that this "name" procedure would not be implemented until later this year, mentioning fall. The last agent to whom I spoke also indicated that any information entered in the OSI or SSI area wouldn't even be seen by TSA, it's only in the airlines systems.

thanks weaser - sounds like TSA has to wait for all airlines to update software in order to comply. Don't know how much warning they (TSA) gave the airlines for this new requirement. It has to be a costly change over since it changes reservation forms and boarding passes. A lot of new fields to create and input.

Just when we though things were getting simpler - they are not. All for the sake of better security, so I guess I'm not complaining - just like to be totally prepared for everything.

We just came back from my daughters wedding in st. johns and one of the girls the travel agent put her name on her ticket as Jen not Jennifer. She was traveling with my grandson and tsa pulled them both over and searched all their carryones and screened their person. Had the explosive dog come over and put their stuff through the super xray. They told her if she wasn't with such a large group and the baby they would have turned her back.

i read an artical saying that starting in august, they will get stricter on matching names on ID's to tickets.
even a middle initial must be correct or out come the rubber gloves.

I don't understand why the name on the boarding pass is so important. The last time we went through TSA in FL our passport was checked against our boarding pass by a TSA agent before screening. Is it not more important to see that the person boarding matches the picture in a government document more than the name on a boarding pass issued by an airline? Maybe for domestic flights there might be an issue since it is dooubtful that passports would be used as photo ID for boarding. If the poor TSA agent couldn't figure out that Jen is a short form for Jennifer then TSA has more problems to deal with than just screening passengers! Also, if a TSA agent really thought Jen was a threat yet let her board because she had a baby (and was with a crowd) then what is he doing working there???? I guess he forgot about the terroists that used babies as a decoy in London and doubts the effectiveness of all the equipment and procedures used to screen passengers. Sounds like a little BS on TSA's part to me.
