If you can get to Journey's End/Las Terrazas it is pretty easy going at least as far as Rojo Lounge. I would be very careful of a cart on most of the road North of Akbol as if it rains or if the tides are very high it can be very difficult. I would probably never try it in a regular golf cart but you will probably be OK with one that has a lift kit installed. Just be careful.

Honestly it depends on the time of year ,the rains make the road pretty rough to impossible.Right about now They are undooable past Tres Cocos.
The Coastal Express and Island Ferry services are going up as far as Blue Reef. Thats just a little North of Mexico Rocks.

That 3 or 4 miles expression is used kinda loosely by the rental people. could mean anything.
what is the name of the house?

It could be 3 miles, could be 4 miles or could be 3 + 4 miles, but probably not 3 x 4 miles. The name of the house will be a big help in telling you just how far it is and what is nearby (walking distance).

For reference though, Blue Reef is 8 miles north, and now that Coastal Express offers regularly scheduled service to/from Blue Reef, you are in good shape so long as the house is 8 miles or less north of town (as far as having good, regular boat access). Sueno del Mar is 12 miles north of town and it's a 25-30 minute boat ride. The point being, that the difference in boat ride between 3 miles north and 5 miles north is very negligible.

You can drive "somewhat comfortably" up a little past Palapa Bar. It gets pretty bad bad in front of White Sands.

By February the roads are dry and you can probably drive get all the way to Sueno del Mar if you want to.
Don't fret about February - it's very very dry then and if you find ruts in the road you won't find mud in them.

Diane, in July the road was dry also and my wife and I made it past White Sands before quiting. I'm a old Arizona off road 4 wheeler and IMO there are far more than "ruts" on that road. It's a rough, slow drive for the standard rental golf cart without the proper suspension and tires. Now water is smoooooth! smile
