[quote=catdance62][color:#000099] We've(people in the North)had a lot of the bicycle to work traffic on the beach carrying machetes and whacking dogs as they run out to bark at them passing. Thats horrible. The condo Im looking at is up north, I think if I saw that Id freak out. AC

The other side of the coin is that people dont control or train their dogs, and it is common to see a dog attack or charge a cyclist. I am a Dog owner and would also whack any dog that did this to me.

Phil, Whacking them with a machete, is a little extreme in 99.9% of the cases don't you think? A stick would certainly deliver your message in a not so cruel way. Unless the dog was especially vicious/dangerous and a person was really at risk I don't think I would resort to that.

Ragman, well, Phil didn't say he would use a machette to whack them. But if you were riding your bicycle, one handed because the other was holding a machette as you were on your way to work . . .and a vicious (or what appeared to be vicious) dog or two ran at you and tried to bite your legs, what would *you* whack them with?

Who needs a knife; just have Mommy or Daddy pay for a bodyguard to escort you to where you need to go.

Sheesh, you guys. I'm not recommending that anyone whack a dog with a machette! I'm just saying one shouldn't be overly surprised if such a thing were to happen. There's long been a problem with many dog owners on Ambergris Caye, not taking proper care and control of their animals. And that includes training them or restraining them, to keep them from trying and/or succeeding in biting people riding their bikes (to work).
All I'm saying is, if someone is being attacked by a dog, they are going to defend themselves with whatever they happen to have handy . . and if what they have handy is a machette, then don't be surprised.

I think Binghole has a problem with mommy and daddy. Not enough love growing up? Let it go already, read the guys other posts, he says he is self-sufficient.
